8 months & Kauai Trip

"Oh my gosh! I am 8 months!"

Life is rough

Well this post is very late, but better late than never. So much is happening with our sweet baby girl! She turned 8 months September 19th and the week before her 8 months we traveled to Kauai with Ya-Ya and K-Paw. It was our first full family vacation since baby, and Lily's first time to fly. It was only a 30 minute flight so she was good. She slept almost the whole flight both ways, but it was super short. Christmas will be the real test. The flight to Houston is about 8 hours. "Not it!" is what I will be telling Austin as we board the plane, ha! Kauai is beautiful. It is my 2nd favorite island, and my parents time share is absolutely paradise. We went at a nice time since school had started and we caught some gorgeous weather. I will say that family vacation post-baby is much different than pre-baby. Also, Lily was kind enough to pass around the cold right before we left so my Mom was ill most of the trip. Anyway's we all had a great time and enjoyed getting to see different parts of the island.

Hey K-Paw: I mustache you a question!

Cutest pool baby around!

What is this green stuff? / My first marg!! ha!

The entire beach to ourselves! Seriously! (Kauai- Barking Sands Military Base)

She is seriously one happy baby. She also loves ice cream. A lot.

If you can't tell from all the pictures, K-Paw barely put her down the entire time he was here. She is so spoiled already, but how can you blame him? This was the first time he saw her since she was 2 weeks old. She loved his mustache! She was always pulling on it and playing with his hats!

8 months brought on a few new things: anything in her reach is fair game. No joke, watch out. She wasn't quite crawling yet, but she was getting close. She loves to play with her feet, and with all of her toys! We have 2 bottom teeth, and countless rolls. Although I think she is beginning to thin out a little. She can still wear 6-9 months clothes. 12 months for some brands, but she has stopped sprouting uncontrollably for now. At her Dr,'s appointment she was exactly 20 pounds and 28 inches long. She will be taller than me in a few years, no doubt. Oh! We also don't wear shoes. She hates them. Should be interesting down the road.

Fall isn't something we get to experience in Hawaii, so when October rolls around I like to at least decorate and start to embrace the fall spirit. My mom got her some Halloween stuff that we have been sporting lately. This is my favorite. She fell asleep with her book in her hand playing in her room.

Stay tuned for October's post! We are now crawling!!!!

7 months: Austin's Mini Me

Lily turned 7 months on August 19th, so yes this should technically be more like 7 1/2 months. How I grew this child in my womb for 10 months and she looks absolutely nothing like me is still a daily question I ask myself. She looks exactly like Austin. For real. There is no denying it. And to top it off, boy is she a daddy's girl.

So let see what new tricks we've learned in the past month. Besides putting everything she can get her hands on in her mouth, we are ABOUT to crawl. She hasn't really shown much interest in going mobile yet, which is fine by me. But in the past few days we have noticed her getting braver when it comes to trying to reach something. She's a little princess. Why would you crawl when someone picks you up and carries you everywhere anyway? I mean look at this face: can you blame us?
I am excited to report that she said "mama" 2 nights ago. Everyone keeps telling me that "dada" is usually first, but if she's going to look nothing like me at least I got her to say "mama" first! You should have seen the look on Austin's face. I am pretty sure his heart broke a little right then and there. I don't care if it was mumbling and random rant, I am counting it.
Lily is such a happy and sweet baby. She is very cuddly, especially when she is teething. Which happens to be constantly right now. I wouldn't trade our afternoon cuddles for anything.
We made another trip to Bellows Beach, and she liked it much better this time. We are heading to Kauai next week with the fam for yearly vacation, so I am glad she is liking the beach more now. It gets so sticky and hot, but as long as she has a little shade she is good to go.
Oh ya. How could I forget? She loves to stare at herself in the mirror. She wants to play with the cute rolly polly on the other side. I think this will be when she crawls, to get to herself. ha. This is our nightly routine. Mirror time then bath time then reading (chewing on) books! She now takes a big girl bath and loves loves loves every minute of it.
We can keep it real though too folks. Its not always smiles and laughs. Especially when you won't give her your iphone to chew on. I can see the water damage happening already.
She loves the Dog now! She just wants to touch and yank on him every chance she gets. I am not sure how long he will put up with her, but he seems to tolerate her well.
And most importantly, Aggie Football has started. She sported her A&M tutu like a princess, and loves to watch football with her Daddy.

Ya-Ya arrives today, so we are very excited to see her again! We leave Saturday for Kauai and K-Paw is meeting us there. This will be Lily's first plane trip and vacation so we are crossing our fingers she is going to be a great little traveler :)

Turning 27 with a 6 month old

Cuteness at its finest
"Hey Mom, stop taking pictures"

6 Months. My favorite age so far, by far. So much has happened in the past month its hard to keep up. We eat two baby food meals a day, we have two teeth, we started sleeping in our crib more (Austin and I are suckers), we got told our first "NO" and hand slap (for pulling hair), we actually play with toys, laugh, smile constantly, try to eat our feet and the biggest progression is that Lily can sit up by herself. Kudos kid, you are growing up too fast.

This time last year we were just announcing that we were having a baby. In my 26th year I was pregnant for 6 months and then spent the next 6 months recovering and adjusting. It absolutely flew by.

Ah, the big 2-7. Kind of one of those in between years. Not 25 anymore, but not yet 30. If you asked me what I thought I would be doing at 27 ten years ago, I probably wouldn't have said changing diapers and feeding my 6 month old while building my career. It's funny how over time your perspective of life changes. Now one might argue that I am "old for my age". I get told at work all the time that I have an old soul, and talk like a 40 year old. I think I'll accept 27. I think it's going to be a great year. I get to watch our little angel grow another year, take her first steps, say her first words, and meet all of our family in friends in Texas. A great year is probably a bit of an understatement.

For those of you keeping track of our off the charts baby, here are your 6 month stats: 19 pounds, 26 1/4 in. long, and still a very large noggin. She's in the 90-95% in everything. Her rolls are contagiously multiplying, but somehow we aren't "fat" and still mushing into 6 month clothing.

We also attended our first birthday parties!
(I have spent in inordinate amount of money on little kids birthday presents. I was in Target for 2 hours one night trying to buy presents for a 5 year old, a 2 year old and a 1 year old. I will be a pro in no time)
We got to be a "Super Lily"!

We got to enjoy the pool in our very stylish hat.

We fell asleep at Audrey's birthday party, but we still had fun :)

The crib is not so scary anymore, even though she likes to see if she can make her way into our room after a few cry outs. So far we have only given in a little :)

How can you say no to this face?

My favorite time to steal kisses is in the morning when we are getting ready for the day. I am very blessed to be able to make my own schedule, so I do tend to spend some extra time stealing smooches before I head off to work. But sometimes getting ready and being so cute can be very exhausting, see below.

This kid has eyelashes for days. Like her Daddy. I hope she never grows out of wanting to nap on me in the afternoons. I will never get sick of her baby snores.

She loves to play with her feet. Her thighs are too big for her to actually be able to chew on her feet, but she won't stop trying! :)

This post is a little late, but we have been one busy fam bam over here! We are very excited to begin the countdown to Kauai with K-Paw and Ya-Ya in September. It will be our first travel experience with this little munchkin. We also get to countdown to our trip to Texas for 3 WHOLE WEEKS of December! Get ready, Texas. There is some serious cuteness headed your way. We can't wait for Lily to meet all of our family and friends. It's CRAZY to think she will almost be 1!!

This Birthday will be the best one yet. Bring it on 27, lets see what ya got! ;)
