My Friday morning started off pretty normal, I had a few business meetings in town and then met up with my good friend Crystal to catch up before my Mom flew in and I had to go pick her up from the airport. I picked up Mom and we headed back to our side of the island to unpack and take it easy. We were going to go to the beach and have a nice dinner. About 10 minutes after we got home I went to go pee. Right after I was done a gush soaked my pants. Instant thought "oh my god I just peed myself". I went through 9 1/2 months of pregnancy without this happening so I was very frustrated. I walk out to the living room and told Austin "Don't freak out but I either just peed myself or my water broke". His instant response is "oh you just peed yourself." So I wander upstairs to change clothes and sure enough it happens again. I've never been pregnant before so I have no idea what it feels like when your water breaks. I was honestly expecting the whole movie scene where a big gush of water comes out. Nope not quite. I sat down in the middle of the bathroom floor on a stack of beach towels with my ipad and my phone. I started googling and texting Courtney about when her water broke. I finally decide to call the midwife line at Tripler and ask them what I should do. She told me to come in of course so she could check me. Once I got up and tried to get dressed I realize this is the real deal folks. My water was definitely broken. Austin grabbed all the hospital bags, and my poor exhausted mother changed clothes again and we head to the hospital.
If you live in Hawaii and plan on having a baby I highly recommend the midwife program at Tripler. I had a very pleasant experience with all of them and you get seen much quicker than with the regular OB's.
To make a long story short we were admitted around 5:00 on Friday afternoon. Lily Grace arrived at 7:44 a.m. on Saturday January 19th. I opted out and took the epidural. I was on the fence about trying natural labor but lets just say my mind changed pretty fast once the real contractions started and she told me it could be a couple of days if we wanted to wait it out. No mam' I wanted the little princess out asap! She was 7 pounds and 5 oz. and looks like her daddy.
We were discharged from the hospital the next day, and the first week flew by to say the least. We had our first few parental scares but turns out Austin and I are the typical over worried new parents. We are very blessed that she is a healthy baby with 10 fingers and 10 toes. Here we are about the leave the hospital:
Its the rainy season here in Hawaii right now which means the surf is huge. Austin wanted to go see the big waves, so we decided to make Lily's first road trip to the north shore. (Don't freak out we kept her in our arms, out of the sun, and away from the sand)
She also got to see (or sleep through) her first north shore sunset... (no filter people this picture is legit)

Our first play date!!! Court and Justin's twins are already 2 months old, but they were preemie so Lily is the same size as them :)
Future Aggie!
Cuddle time with Mommy :)
Well in the time it has taken me to write this blog its now time to go feed the tiny princess. You learn to maximize and become super efficient with your time, but the days still seem to fly by. Its definitely a life changer, but I couldn't imagine not having her now. She is absolute perfection.
