2012

Well back to the blogging world I come. I started one back in 2011 but failed to maintain it after Austin returned from his deployment. But I figured it is going to be a good idea to get back into the groove, especially with our first little one on the way. Living 4,000 miles away from our Texas family and friends can be tough sometimes, so hopefully this will bring us a little closer together. Along with our other friends are spread out all over the world!

Big Island Vacation July 2012
Wow! I can't believe 2012 has already passed. It was Austin and I's first year of being married while he was on shore duty. Its been nice to have him home and around all the time. No more submarine for a while. He has a much more steady work schedule, and it attached to the shipyard so there are no deployments.

In February I started a new career path switching from my marketing and PR job into finance. Its nice to actually use my degree. I started working with a boutique financial firm based out of Newport Beach at their branch office in Honolulu. I absolutely love the job. I studied for a few months and took my tests for securities licenses and investment advisory. My official title is Financial Advisor, but that is a multifunctional role. I have gotten to meet fabulous new people and work with a lot of genuine faces. I look forward to the challenge and the future this career holds for me.

In June we found out that we were expecting our first child! It wasn't a complete shock, but it definitely was news we both had to adjust to. Imagining ourselves as parents and being responsible for a little person is a whole new ball game. In August we found out it was a girl! (eek, Austin was sure it was a boy). I of course was immediately excited based on the fact alone that there is just no argument about little girl clothes being much cuter than little boy clothes. I think God new better than to start me off with a boy. We decided on the name Lily Grace. Short and sweet since our last name is so long. Lily was just about the only girl name that we could agree on so Lily it is. I am due January 30th, and we are both ready to meet our little girl. We know that its going to be a huge adjustment but we are ready to expand our family. I can't wait to see Austin as a dad, he is going to make the best father.

Here are some shots from our maternity photos that we had taken when we were home in Texas this past November. Paige Meyer took them out in Brenham. We went home for two weeks in November since I couldn't fly past Dec. 15th. We got to see a lot of family and friends at our Texas baby shower, and even got to go see an Aggie Game! Whoop!
